A major success for Eckart Hydraulics, and for the environment: The Wallroth-based mechanical engineering company has been awarded the DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management certificate by TÜV Hessen following a comprehensive audit.

"Implementing an environmental management system presents a tremendous challenge, especially for manufacturing companies like ours. We are all the more delighted that our efforts have now been rewarded with this certificate," emphasizes Stefan Limpert, who is responsible for environmental management at Eckart Hydraulics.

"The guidelines of this international standard are very stringent," explains Managing Director Markus Eckart. It covers topics such as sustainable business practices, compliance with legal requirements and environmental regulations, energy-efficient resource management, and environmentally sound hazardous materials and waste management. This also includes continuous monitoring and improvement, as well as the achievement of self-defined targets.

The TÜV Hessen certification audit examined how Eckart Hydraulics is currently structured in all departments, how work is carried out, how evaluations are conducted, and how optimizations are implemented.

The auditors were particularly impressed by Eckart Hydraulics' long-standing commitment to environmental management: "Our photovoltaic system, the use of heat pumps to heat our production halls, the conversion of all lighting to LED technology and our membership in the WITO Climate Pact demonstrate that sustainability has long been close to our hearts," says Stefan Limpert.

The result after a good year of TÜV testing: "Proof of compliance with regulations has been provided." That's the matter-of-fact statement on the certificate. Markus Eckart puts it more emotionally: "We are, of course, very pleased with this great success. It gives us momentum for the next steps."

Because this certification is certainly not the end of the story, emphasizes Stefan Limpert: "Environmental protection is an ongoing process that must constantly be optimized. Our overarching goal is, after all, to operate completely climate-neutrally in the medium term."

And even if there's still some work to be done before then, one thing is certain: The environmental management certificate is a very big step on the way there.
