CO₂ reduction through conversion to electricity from renewable sources

Eckart Hydraulics company from Germany switches completely to green electricity

Eckart GmbH has fully converted the electricity supply for its plant in Schlüchtern-Wallroth to renewable energy . Since the end of 2021, the mechanical engineering company has sourced its electricity exclusively from certified renewable sources .

With an average annual electricity requirement of around 900,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), this conversion results in a calculated reduction of indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2) by approximately 342 tons of CO₂ per year compared to the conventional grid mix . (Note: The calculation is based on the average emission factors of the German grid electricity mix).

In addition, our own photovoltaic system on the production roofs generates CO₂-free electricity for direct consumption in the plant . Alongside these on-site measures, as a member of the "Klimapakt für Schlüchtern", Eckart GmbH also supports regional afforestation and environmental projects of the trade and business association WITO through an annual financial project contribution
